Baseball: Perham concludes regular season play with 17-3 mark, ranked eleventh

DENT -- No. 11-2A and reigning Mid-State Conference Champions Perham improved to 17-3 overall and closed out regular season play with a 3-1 victory over the Rebels.

Eric Brauch dueled Ryan Hamernick for six innings on the mound. Brauch fanned a dozen Rebel batters while walking none to gain the victory.

Hamernick pitched a complete game.

Mark Schumacher pitched the seventh to get the save for the Yellowjackets.

Catcher Gabe Pankonin led the way at the plate with a solo home run. J.T. Laughlin was 1-2 with one RBI.

Perham won the game despite being outhit 5-4.

The Rebels fall to 9-10 on the season.

Perham has won 15 straight games since starting the season 2-3.

The Section 8AA playoff bracket has been announced. The Yellowjackets will host Breckenridge (2-15) in the first round Thursday, May 31 at 5 p.m. A win will pit the Jackets against the winner of Detroit Lakes (9-10) and Hawley (10-5) in Perham, Saturday, June 2 at 4 p.m.
