Perham Stingers Sweep TRF and EGF

The Perham Stingers improved their league record to 9-3 and 12-6 overall on the season.

Perham is sitting solidly in second place and are only one game back of Bemidji, who they play in a doubleheader this week.

On Thursday, Perham traveled to Thief River Falls and won game one by a score of 12-4.

Jake Leuders picked up his second pitching victory of the season throwing five strong innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run.

Josh Still reached base in all five-plate appearances with three hits and two walks.

Chandler Rach added a bases clearing double and Joe Solberg hit a two RBI triple to lead the team offensively.

Tanner Carlson pitched game two and got his third victory of the season. Carlson, CJ Mulcahy and Chase Curtis each had two hits for the Stingers in the 9-6 victory.

The team then stayed in Thief River Falls and traveled to East Grand Forks Friday morning for another doubleheader and completed the four game road trip with a sweep of East Grand Forks 15-5 and 16-0.

Jack Stigman remained undefeated pitching seven strong innings and dominating the EGF hitters. Jaden Meyer had four hits and scored four runs in the game. Dylan Perrine was four for five at the plate with a single, two doubles, a triple and five RBI.

Game twp saw much of the same, with Austin Erickson pitching three innings of no-hit baseball and was relieved by Josh Meader who allowed two hits but kept EGF scoreless as they cruised to the victory.

Josh Still again reached base safely in all five-plate appearances. He led off the game with a walk, doubled in the second inning, singled in the third, homered in the fourth and tripled in the fifth to hit for the cycle, a very rare baseball feat. He also knocked in six runs and scored four times.

On the season, the team is led offensively by CJ Mulcahy with a current .532 batting average, Jaden Meyer .440, Josh Still .420 and Dylan Perrine .392, and Joe Solberg .370.

The team plays their final eight regular season league games this week, including home games Thursday against East Grand Forks and Saturday against Fergus Falls.
