NEW YORK MILLS -- Shawn Johnson struck out 10 Eagles in a complete game shutout and Isaiah Greene had four RBI to lead Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton over New York Mills 5-0 Saturday in District 9 South Sub-district play.

The victory propels D-G-F, 3-0 in the tournament, to Sunday's final where they will meet the winner of the elimination bracket.

The final elimination game will be played at New York Mills Sunday at 2 p.m. The winner of last night's 7 p.m. game, Parkers Prairie or Breckenridge, will face New York Mills. The winner of that game plays D-G-F at 4:30 in the final.

All four teams have already advanced to the District 9 tournament next weekend in Hawley. Sunday's games will set the seeding for the four squads in next weekend's tournament.

D-G-F starter Shawn Johnson kept the Eagles at bay the entire game.

Brandon Kupfer reached third base after walking and taking second and third base on a couple of erratic throws from Johnson that got by the catcher.

Kupfer remained at third even though a third past ball on a strike three to Spencer Imsande allowed an extra out for the Eagles. Johnson retired Adam Patron on a fly ball to right field to end the Eagles only real threat at scoring.

Greene extended a D-G-F 2-0 lead in the fifth inning launching a three-run blast over the fence to make the score 5-0.

Greene had four RBI in the game.

He singled in the third to score Chad Johnson. Dylan DeJong followed with a double to right-center to trade places with Greene for the early 2-0 lead.

Tyler Patron pitched a strong game for New York Mills.

Patron threw six innings, allowed only four hits in the two scoring innings for D-G-F.

Patron shut down D-G-F the remaining four innings; he walked three, struck out nine and all five runs allowed were earned.

Johnson was too good, throwing seven shutout innings, allowing three hits. He walked three and fanned 10 batters, including all three outs in the final inning.

Patron retired all three batters himself in the second to end a threat when DeJong and Kyle Johnson both reached to start the inning on throwing errors by Maison Roberts at shortstop.

Patron struck out Hunter Rosenfeldt and Jake Kadrie. He sent Tanner Carter back to the bench on a comebacker to the mound.

Greene was the hitting star of the game with a 2-3 performance. He scored twice, hit the three-run homer and had four RBI.

DeJong was 1-3 with a double and one RBI.

Roberts, Derik Gaudette and Kyle Vorderbruggen had hits for New York Mills, all singles.

Game note: The home plate umpire ejected D-G-F's Alex Johnson in the fifth inning after Johnson argued a strike call and drew a line in the sand with his bat. He was swiftly removed from the game.
