Girls tennis: NY Mills drops two to open the season

The number of tennis participants again have the NY Mills Eagles in the unenviable position of having to forfeit a match, making wins even more difficult to come by.

Forfeits were a common ailment of last year's team,

The Eagles opened the season at the Osakis quadrangle Monday morning.

The home Silverstreaks came away with three victories, including a 7-0 defeat of the Eagles.

Emily Blomberg and Victoria Selander took four games from their counterparts Lauren Silbernick and Alexa Hoffart in a 6-1, 6-3 loss at one-doubles.

Osakis cruised through the top three singles matches and swept the doubles. NY Mills forfeited four-singles.

Melrose also defeated NY Mills 7-0.

No other match scores have been reported.
