Eight games factor in all 14 teams during week one in the Heart O' Lakes Classic and North football conferences.

Inter-conference match-ups will be played in six games with the most hyped game of the week, Perham at Pelican Rapids, being WDAY's First Down Friday Spotlight Game. WDAY, (channel 6-Arvig), will be live with pre and post-game broadcasts at 6 and 10 p.m.

Focus Sports Editor Robert Williams will be in Pelican Rapids Friday evening for the Yellowjackets' opener at 7 p.m.

Detroit Lakes and Breckenridge play out of conference, as DL heads to Duluth to face Hermantown. The Lakers overcame a slow first half to come back strong on the strength of an opportunistic defense to win 22-7, scoring all 22 points unanswered.

Breckenridge renews its border battle with sister city Wahpeton, N.D.

In Thursday's other game, Pequot Lakes had little trouble with Staples-Motley winning big 38-6.
