SWANVILLE -- New York Mills fell behind 33-0 after a first half where the offense gained just one first down.

Three Patriot rushers tallied five touchdowns in a 33-15 rout over the Eagles.

Shane Novak scored the first Eagle touchdown on a 27-yard pass from Charlie Peeters in the back corner of the end zone on fourth and 12. Novak's point-after kick was good to make the score 33-7 with 7:16 remaining in the fourth quarter.

AJ Wegscheid had some impressive runs as the second team took the field on a night when rushing was difficult for the Eagles. Wegscheid scored from the two with 1:32 remaining. A two-point PAT pass was completed to Keaton Norton for the 33-15 final.

Upsala/Swanville Area scored five rushing touchdowns in the game, two in the second quarter for a 14-0 lead at the half. The Patriots scored three in the third quarter putting the game out of reach minutes after the second half kick.

Mitch Lange scored from three and 34 yards. Tren Dinius scored from nine yards out.

Senior tailback Austin Mollner scored twice.

His first touchdown was a highlight reel run breaking at least five Eagle tackles in what should have been a loss behind the line of scrimmage. Mollner turned a busted play into a 34-yard run, untouched, on his way to the end zone, with 2:28 to go before the half.

The score and ensuing 2-point PAT put a 14-point cushion on the scoreboard in what could have been considered a close 7-0 game so near the break.

Even when the teams were separated by one score, New York Mills ended the first half of offense with five punts, one interception and one first down. USA controlled field position from the opening kick starting near midfield the entire first half.

Lange's two-yard plunge with 9:21 remaining in the third quarter capped a five-play, 60-yard drive to put a Patriot stranglehold on momentum up 21-0 minutes after the second half kick.
