Football: Perham 7th graders kick off season

The Perham 7th grade football teamed opened their season last night with a scrimmage against Ottertail Central on Fritz Hanson Field in Perham.

After three weeks of practice the young Jackets were anxious to take the field to see how they stack up against the competition.

Perham began the scrimmage on defense and were able to hold the Bulldogs out of the end-zone. Perham's first possession on offense, resulted in a 30-yard touchdown run.

From that point on, each team seemed to settle in and play good football. Both teams were evenly matched; with each team scoring three touchdowns during the contest.

It was a great learning experience and a great way to kick off the 2012 season. The Jackets will be in action again on Thursday, September 13 with a game at Pelican Rapids.
