Boys Basketball: Battlers' trio downs Eagles in home opener

NEW YORK MILLS -- A trio of Battlers put up double figures as Battle Lake (1-0) spoiled the home opener of the New York Mills Eagles 79-26 Thursday evening.

Dan Marso led all scorers with 24 points.

Petric VanErp scored 19 points and Tyler Ukkelberg had 17.

The Battlers held a commanding 47-17 lead at the break and turned up the defense even more in the second half allowing the Eagles just nine points in the final 18 minutes of play.

Ted Hendrickx had six points to lead New York Mills.

The Eagles (0-1) are off for one week when they hit the road to Ashby Thursday, Dec. 6.

The Arrows play their first game tonight, Friday, Nov. 30 in Verndale.
