Boys Basketball: Eagles get first victory of the season

NEW YORK MILLS -- The Eagles boys basketball team defeated Pillager 59-57 for their first win of the season in three games Tuesday evening.

Pillager's senior center E.J. Ziegler led all scorers with 28 points and was the only Husky in double figures.

The Eagles were led by the three-pronged attack of Charlie Peeters, Damon Tumberg and Zach Bauck en route to their conference schedule opening victory.

Peeters scored 17 points; Bauck added 15 and Tumberg scored 13. Chance Pettow had eight points.

Pillager led at halftime 31-28, but the Eagles flipped the scoring in the second half outscoring the Huskies by five, 31-26, for the two-point victory.

New York Mills (1-2) plays the second of a three-game home stand Friday, Dec. 14 when they host the Henning Hornets (2-0). at 7:30 p.m.

Henning defeated the Eagles 71-44 Friday to improve to 3-0. No statistics were reported for this game.
