Girls Basketball: Pequot Lakes 94, Perham 54

PEQUOT LAKES -- Vanessa Lane and Kayla Miller combined for 47 of Pequot Lakes point total in a 94-54 victory over Perham in girls basketball Thursday evening.

Lane led all scorers with 25 points. Miller added 22.

The loss is the eleventh straight for the Yellowjackets this season.

Pequot Lakes improves to 8-4 overall.

According to Perham Head Coach T.J. Super, the Jackets handled the pressure applied by the Patriots for most of the night but struggled with shooting, especially around the basket where they missed 11 wide-open layups in the first half alone. Against a team that lives off transition points.

"You just can't make mistakes like that that allow them to get out into the open court," Super said. "Because of not being able to finish, the lead for the Patriots ballooned to 23 at the break."

The Patriots led at the half 52-29 and outscored Perham 42-25 in the second half.

Turnovers hurt the Yellowjackets. 15 of 20 were steals by the Patriots that led to many fast break points.

Pehram senior Miranda Lockhart had her best game of the season scoring 21 points and making it a double-double with 12 rebounds. Lockhart has led Perham in scoring three straight games.

Analea Erickson also had a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards.

Perham shot 50 percent from the field 23-46 and 1-3 from three-point land.

Pequot Lakes shot 64 percent 34-53 and were good half the time from long range sinking three of six from behind the arc.

Jessica Kreitz and Katie White each scored 10 points giving the Patriots four players in double-figures.

Tina Scheidecker added eight points for Perham.

Perham (0-11) continues a seven-game road trip at Hawley (5-3) Jan. 10 and Frazee (7-2) Jan. 14.
