Girls Basketball: Panthers slip by Perham 44-40

PARK RAPIDS -- Coming off their first victory of the season the Perham Yellowjackets (1-15) girls basketball game fell to the Panthers 44-40 Thursday night.

"As well as we played on Tuesday, we struggled on Thursday to take care of the ball and take quality shots in Park Rapids," Head Coach TJ Super said.

Despite a height disadvantage, the Yellowjackets held their own in the paint with the rebound totals nearly equal, 36-35 in favor of Park Rapids.

Park Rapids converted 14 of 31 free throw attempts to just nine of 20 for Perham creating a five-point differential crucial to the final score.

Park Rapids led 21-17 at the half and both teams played to a stalemate in the second half scoring 23 points each.

Panther junior forward Charity Ridlon led all scorers with 13 points and hauled in 12 rebounds for a double-double. Katelyn Hilmanowski scored 11 points.

Perham was led by Analea Erickson's 11 points. Miranda Lockhart recorded a double-double, also, scoring 10 points with 10 rebounds, along with three steals. Emily Tobkin scored nine points, all from behind the arc, where the senior was 3-4 shooting from long range.

The Yellowjackets take on state ranked New London-Spicer on Saturday night at Prairie Wind Middle School Gymnasium with the varsity tip scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
