FERGUS FALLS -- The Perham gymnastics team continues to improve their form in quest of the team's 11th straight Section 8A title.

The Yellowjackets team scores have steadily risen since the start of the season and hit a high in a 141.4-123.65 victory at Fergus Falls Friday.

Jordan Martinson's all-around score of 36.45 was the best result by a distinct margin of 2.5 points. Teammate Justine Meyer finished second with 33.9 as the duo led Perham to victory.

Martinson won the vault (9.15), floor (9.0), tied for first with teammate Carly Breitenfeldt (9.0) on bars and finished second on beam (9.3) to teammate Alexis Peichel's winning 9.35.

Sydney Bahls (9.2) and Emily Martinson (8.1) made it a Perham sweep of the top four beam marks.

Perham swept the top five spots on bars with Madison Peichel finishing second behind Martinson with an 8.7. Breitenfeldt was third (8.65); Taylor Stammen fourth (8.55) and Meyer fifth (8.4).

The feat was repeated on bars with Alexis Peichel (8.95), Meyer (8.9) and Adrienne Meyer (7.85) finishing third through fifth behind Breitenfeldt and Martinson.

Three Otters cracked the top five all-around behind Martinson and Meyer.

Chandler Frigaard was third (31.65); Carolina Wagnild fourth (31.1) and Camryn Appert fifth scoring 30.55.

Perham will travel to Minnetonka Saturday in the final warm-up before a clash with Detroit Lakes in the Section 8A meet February 16.

This year's Section meet will be held in Park Rapids.

Detroit Lakes was the last 8A team other than Perham to represent the section at state and did so in 2002.

The Lakers have three appearances at state since 1975. Their other trips were in 1991 and 1993.

Perham's streak runs from 2003-present.
