Breckenridge extends Perham's HOL skid

Gabby DeBoer poured in 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, however, the Perham Yellowjackets dropped a Heart O’Lakes Conference contest to Breckenridge 47-42 on Feb. 1 in Breckenridge.

The Yellowjackets held a slim lead into the break after leading by double figures in the first half. However, the Cowgirls stormed back with a late run and took the lead early in the second half. The Yellowjackets had an opportunity to tie the game in the closing seconds, but a 3-pointer was no good. Breckenridge grabbed the rebound and closed the game out at the free throw line, earning the five-point win.

Both teams had their struggles at the free throw line. Breckenridge hit 10 of 19, while Perham hit 14 of 23.

Carly Vizenor led the way for the Cowgirls, finishing with a team-high of 16 points. Abby Steckler added nine points in the game. The Cowgirls hit seven 3-pointers in the win.

It’s the third straight conference loss for the Yellowjackets. They were edged by Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton and Barnesville the week prior.

The Yellowjackets fell to 11-7 overall and 4-5 in the Heart O’Lakes Conference. Breckenridge improved to 8-12 and 1-7 in the HOL.

Perham returns to the floor with a contest against Staples-Motley at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Fargo Civic Center.
