Perham wraps up perfect conference season

The Perham boys basketball team is one step closer to a perfect regular season after dismantling Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 81-44 in Glyndon on Feb. 27.

It’s the 25th straight win for the Yellowjackets as they remain the only undefeated team in Minnesota. The Yellowjackets completed a perfect conference season, finishing 12-0 against Heart O’Lakes Conference foes. They captured the conference title for the third straight season with the win.

The Yellowjackets close out the regular season with a road trip to Pequot Lakes. The Patriots are 16-9 overall and hold a 10-3 mark at home. The Yellowjackets and the Patriots tip off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 2.

Josh Jeziorski led three players in double figures for the Yellowjackets. He finished with 25 points, doing work inside the paint. Jeziorski was 10 of 16 from the field and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double.

Jenson Beachy was 6 of 13 from the field, finishing with 21 points. He picked up five steals and dished out eight assists in the win.

Finn Diggins was a monster inside for Perham. He was 8 of 11 from the field, finishing with 18 points. He grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists. The Yellowjackets controlled the board 31-20 and forced 13 turnovers in the game, while committing just five of their own.

The Yellowjackets grabbed the lead early and controlled the first half, racing out to a 41-21 lead. Perham outscored the Rebels 40-23 in the second half, cruising to the road win.

Nathan Brown led the way for DGF. He finished with 14 points, while Nathan Leitner ended with 10.

The loss extended the Rebels losing streak to nine games. Their record dropped to 8-18 overall on the season.
