GLYNDON — The Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels upset the No. 4 Minnesota Class AAA Perham Yellowjackets 21-7 Friday in Heart O’ Lakes football action.

The Rebels controlled the line of scrimmage all game and held the Yellowjackets off the scoreboard until there was less than two minutes to play.

Both teams coughed the ball up at the goal line in the first half.

Rebel running back Brandon Wayne fumbled at the two to give up an early potential score to squash the Rebels' second drive of the game.

On the ensuing Yellowjacket drive, Perham’s Eli Beachy passed to Tyler Glines at the one-yard line but Chase Schumann stepped in front of Glines at the goal line for the interception.

The remainder of the game was all Rebels. Wayne scored from 20 yards out off right tackle with 1:09 to play before the half. Wayne added a two-point conversion run for an 8-0 lead at the break.

The Rebel defense forced a fumble from Payton Jordahl nine seconds into the second half and converted on the turnover when Chad Johnson scored the first of his two touchdowns from a yard out and a 14-0 D-G-F lead three minutes later.

Johnson iced the game in the final minute of the third quarter scoring on a three-yard touchdown run. Jordan Olson’s kick made the score 21-0.

Johnson rushed 26 times for 114 yards and two scores averaging 4.4 yards per carry behind the compact double-wing offensive line of D-G-F. He also added two big receptions ffor 72 yards. Wayne gained 64 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown.

Perham avoided the shutout at 1:54 when Jordahl scored on a nine-yard run and the 21-7 final. Jordahl was held to 89 yards on 15 carries with a lost fumble.

Beachy rushed 13 times but was sacked four times to erase any rushing yards with a net rushing total of zero yards. He completed five of 10 passes for 75 yards and was picked off twice by the Rebels.

Cole Schmitz had a busy night making 14 tackles, 10 solo, as the Perham defense saw the majority of game time on the field. Schmitz is Perham's leading defender with 27 stops on the season.
