Boys Basketball: Impressive road win for Jackets at Crosby

CROSBY — Hunter Salathe scored a team-high 15 points; Nick Bahls had 11 - on a trio of threes and a deuce - as the No. 1-2A Perham Yellowjackets dominated the second half in a testy rematch of the 2013 Section 8AA final, coming home with a 49-42 victory over Crosby-Ironton.

The win ups Perham’s overall record to 5-0.

Crosby falls to 2-1.

The Rangers and Yellowjackets exchanged leads in the first half to a 24-22 halftime score in favor of Perham after a Riley Jacobs bucket late cut Perham’s lead to two points. Jacobs led all scorers with 17 points.

Perham got all its points from the starting five. Eli Beachy scored nine, Tyler Glines had eight, and Sam Muer had six.

Daniel Hurdrik was in double figures for the Rangers with 11 points.

Pelican Rapids comes to Perham on Friday the 13th  with an undefeated 4-0 record.

The first notch in the loss column in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference and Section 8AA Southwest standings will be on the line.

Both teams split the season series last year defending home court, but Perham took the all-important rubber match as the No. 2 seed with a 57-53 win eliminating No. 3 Pelican Rapids in the Subsection semis at Concordia College-Moorhead.

Tip for Friday night’s contest at Prairie Wind Middle School is 7:30 p.m.
