NEW YORK MILLS — The No. 9AA Yellowjacket wrestling team picked up their 13th dual victory and third win of the week with a commanding 52-7 victory over New York Mills Thursday evening.

Perham never trailed in the match and have outscored their last three opponents 179-26.

Junior Colin Neitzke (145) and senior Austen Shultz (152) picked up back-to-back pins. Neitzke pinned Taylor Ericksrud at 1:49 to put Perham ahead 24-3. Shultz followed up with a pin of Maison Friedrichs at 5:21 for a 30-3 advantage. The two were tied at four in the third period.

No. 9AA William Parks scored a major decision shutout 10-0 of Sam Erckenbrack at 182.

Sam Pirrotta defeated Austin Haman 3-1. Tyler Fudge defeated Tyler Ehnert 7-1 in the 126 and 132 pound matches.

Pirrotta and Haman were tied at one late in the third when Pirrotta scored a late takedown for the victory.

The Eagles’ Ehnert was saved from being pinned by the first period buzzer. Fudge built a 5-0 lead en route to a 7-1 win.

Patrick Glynn (160) defeated Gunner Flynn 10-5.

Cole Schmitz (170) showed his knack for come-from-behind wins with an exciting 9-8 victory over Brian Pyle. Pyle got up on Schmitz quickly with an early near fall for three points and led 6-2 after the first period.

Schmitz chipped away at Pyle trailing 8-6 with 90 seconds to wrestle. Schmitz scored four points in the third period including a wicked takedown for the win with 21 seconds remaining in the match.

The duo had a similar match last season with the opposite result.

Schmitz’s victory avenged a loss in Perham last January leading 8-4 late in the match and owning Pyle for all but the final 30 seconds when Pyle stormed back with a pin at 5:55.

New York Mills got wins from their two ranked wrestlers.

No. 2A Tyler Patron (195) defeated Trent Klatt by major decision 12-2.

No. 8A Jeremiah Harper (113) defeated Ben Harper 6-1.

Dylan Fudge (106), Dylan Perrine (138), Trent Jahnke (220) and Jesse Bucholz (285) all won by forfeit. Both teams forfeited at 120.

Perham will be in action this weekend on Saturday at a 12-team tournament in Bemidji before returning home for their stiffest test of the season against No. 3A Frazee in Perham Tuesday night at PWMS.
