Perham controls second half, defeats Frazee 54-41

FRAZEE — The Frazee Hornets threatened to pull off an upset of the Perham Yellowjackets but Perham clamped down on defense and took control of the game out of the halftime break in a 54-41 victory in Heart O’ Lakes boys basketball action Friday night.

Nick Bahls hit two threes and scored eight of his team-high 14 points in the first five minutes of the second half to give Perham a 10-point cushion 37-27.

Frazee scores three successive hoops from Brady Bellefueille, Cory Wokasch and a three by Matt Tangen to cut the lead to 37-34 with 10 minutes to play.

Perham dictated pace and the Hornets were unable to capitalize offensively as Perham outscored Frazee 17-7 down the stretch.

Tyler Glines scored 13 points for Perham. Eli Beachy and Hunter Salathe each scored nine.

Wokasch led all scorers with 17 points.Tanner Karger added 10 points.

Perham improves to 9-4 and 3-2 in the HOL. Frazee falls to 3-7 overall and remains winless in the conference at 0-4.

Pelican Rapids defended their home court against Hawley to take sole possession of first place at 4-1 with a 75-72 victory. Hawley is tied with Perham at 3-2, despite being 4-7 overall.

Kyler Martz had 22 points and 12 rebounds as Barnesville defeated Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 60-47 to improve to 7-3 and 4-2. The Trojans are alone in second place by a half game. D-G-F falls to 5-6 and 2-3.

Breckenridge was idle Friday night.
