Golf: Nuggets win fourth straight

PERHAM — The trio of Willy Tickel, Andrew and Cody Cook are keeping the Hawley Nuggets atop the Heart O’ Lakes Conference in boys golf. Hawley has won all four conference meets this season, including Thursday in Perham.

The three Nuggets are the top three ranked golfers in the HOL.

The meet was moved to Perham Lakeside Golf Club due to flooded course conditions in Barnesville.

Tickel and the Cooks finished in the top three spots. Tickel won the meet outright shooting a 76. Andrew Cook finished a shot back and Cody Cook was third with a 79.

Nick Carpenter, also of Hawley, placed fourth with an 81 giving a commanding victory to the Nuggets on the home course of consistent runners-up Perham.

Hawley shot a team score of 313. Perham finished second for the fourth straight meet 28 strokes back at 341. D-G-F was third with a 376.

Eric Huus and Nick Bahls led the Yellowjackets. Huus placed fifth shooting an 82; Bahls placed sixth with an 83.

Blake Kunza shot 87; Nate Bormann 89, Isaac Guck 95 and Brandon Olson 98 to round out the Perham scores.

Huus, Kunza, Bormann, Bahls and Colin Gorath are ranked four through eight in the conference this season behind the top three Nuggets.
