Baseball: Perham holds off Pelican rally

PELICAN RAPIDS — The Perham baseball team held off a late Vikings' rally to win 5-4 in non-conference action Tuesday.

Perham built a 4-0 lead and held on to it into the sixth inning behind the pitching of Alec Meyer.

The Vikings got to Meyer for three in the sixth and chased the Perham starter.

Meyer allowed three earned runs on four hits, walked three and fanned nine.

Each team scored in the seventh inning for the 5-4 final. Sam Pirrotta scored the game-winner on a base hit by Tanner Carlson. Carlson was the lone Yellowjacket with a multi-hit game going 2-4 with a run scored and one RBI.

Mason Malikowski worked the seventh inning for the save.

In a rarity this season, Pelican Rapids outhit Perham 7-5. The victory improved Perham to 9-1 on the season.
