Tennis team gets first win of the season, shuts out Minnewaska

WADENA — The Wadena-Deer Creek/Perham Wolverines tennis team notched their first meet victory of the season with a 7-0 victory over Minnewaska Area.

Shane Perry defeated Carter Lamont love and love at No. 4 singles and No. 3 Austin Andreen defeated Collin Stumpf love and one to bolster the one-two punch of Mike Paavola and Drew Larson at one and two singles.

Paavola defeated Jake Pederson 7-5, 6-0. Larson took out Karl Thorfinson four and four in the No. 2 spot.

Mike Botzet and Christian Hinckley won the only doubles match played two and one over Cole Mercier and Joe Weaver.

The Lakers forfeited No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
