GBB: Hawley sinks Perham on late three

PERHAM — Hawley needed scoring from only three players and a late three-point basket to send Perham to their third consecutive loss and second straight conference defeat in a 39-36 Heart O’ Lakes girls basketball game Thursday.

Olivia Nelson drained a three-ball with three ticks on the clock to break a 36-all tie for the Nugget victory.

Nelson had 12 points, Haley Cederberg scored five and most of the work for Hawley was done by Jody Noreen, who scored a game-high 22 points.

Noreen was 8-10 from the field, including 4-6 from behind the arc.

Of Hawley’s 36 attempted shots, only seven did not come from the trio of scorers.

Perham trailed 24-22 at halftime and had seven players score in the game led by Tina Scheidecker’s nine points and Analea Erickson’s eight.

Perham (4-7, 1-2) continues HOL play at Frazee (5-4, 1-2) next Tuesday. Hawley (5-4, 1-1) will play at home Tuesday versus undefeated conference leader Pelican Rapids (10-0, 3-0) and Mackenzie Korf. Korf is averaging 30 points per game.
