GBB: Perham evens HOL record with win at Frazee

FRAZEE — The Perham girls basketball team snapped a three-game skid on the back of Ella Von Ruden’s best performance of the season leading the Yellowjackets with 19 points and to the victory over Heart O’ Lakes rival Frazee 53-42 Tuesday night.

Perham held Frazee to just 11 first half points leading by 14 at intermission.

“Unbelievable defense in the first half, just awesome,” Head Coach TJ Super said.

Von Ruden was nearly perfect from the field sinking nine of 10 attempts. The Perham sophomore finished with nine rebounds, one shy of a double-double.

“Ella Von Ruden finished around the hoop and Ella, Maria Rutten, and Sydney Roberts controlled the boards. Really good win to bounce back from a tough heartbreaking loss against Hawley.”

Hawley defeated Perham on a three at the buzzer Thursday, Jan. 9.

Rutten and Analea Erickson were in double figures scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively. Rutten pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds for her double-double. She also had the team’s lone three-ball. Perham was 1-7 from the behind the arc.

Roberts scored eight points and had a dozen boards.

Perham improves to 5-7 and pulls to .500 and into a tie for second place in the HOL with Barnesville at 2-2. Pelican Rapids lead the HOL at 3-0.

Frazee falls to 6-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

Perham continues HOL play Friday at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton

Frazee hosts Hawley Friday night.
