GBB: Rebels defeat Perham in a festival of fouls

GLYNDON — The Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels forced 31 turnovers and took over the game late in a 58-46 Heart O’ Lakes Conference victory over Perham Friday evening.

“Just too many turnovers,” Perham Head Coach TJ Super said. “Early and often foul trouble put us into tough lineups to break the never ending pressure of D-G-F, but our turnovers put us into bad defensive situations which led to fouls.”

Four Yellowjackets played a portion of the game with four fouls. D-G-F had three players in foul trouble with four. Combined, the teams created a busy night for the referees, accumulating 46 team fouls (PER 24, DGF 22).

Natalie Steichen scored 15 points to pace Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.

Analea Erickson scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

“A really good effort from Analea Erickson, (who) stepped up and was aggressive in the right situations, when needed.”

Tina Scheidecker scored 12 points. Ella Von Ruden and Sydney Roberts each scored six.

Perham had a rough night shooting 14-40 from the floor (35 percent), including 0-8 from behind the arc. D-G-F was 20-50 (40 percent), 2-12 from three-point land.

Perham falls to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the HOL. D-G-F improves to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Two other HOL games went to overtime Friday night. No. 7AA Pelican Rapids (12-1, 5-0) defeated Breckenridge (5-4, 1-3) by a score of  57-54. Hawley (6-5, 2-2) defeated Frazee (6-6, 1-4) by a three-point margin 54-51.

Perham’s junior varsity and C-team both won close games.

The JV came back from a second half deficit to send the game into overtime and made big plays in the extra frame to pull out the win and push their record to 10-3.

The C-team also pulled out a close game, hitting two late free throws to seal a four-point win to move their record to 8-3.
