Perham gymnasts drop dual at Becker

BECKER — The No. 5A Perham gymnastics team scored a season low in a loss at No. 12A Becker 140.2 - 138.95 Friday.

Injuries have plagued the Yellowjackets as the season has progressed bumping new gymnasts into new roles and it is beginning to show in judges’ scoring.

Jordan Martinson led the Yellowjackets with two strong performances on uneven bars (9.25) and balance beam (9.25). Martinson won both events, including a tie with teammate Carly Breitenfeldt for first place on bars.

Breitenfeldt had a strong day finishing second to Martinson on beam with a 9.2.

9.25 proved to be a popular winning score as Hannah Schmidt of Becker won the vault with it.

Becker’s Megan Murphy broke the string of scores with a meet-high 9.375 on floor exercise.

Perham is scheduled to host Park Rapids Thursday and travel to Minnetonka Saturday to wrap up the regular season before hosting the Section 8A meet Saturday, Feb. 15.

Full meet results were not reported.
