GBB: Yellowjackets close home regular season with win over D-G-F

PERHAM — The Perham girls basketball team attacked the pressure of Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton and got another double-double from Ella Von Ruden to notch their 10th win of the season in Heart O’ Lakes Conference action Tuesday night.

“It was a great win,” Head Coach T.J. Super said. “The girls played really hard and really well.”

Perham cleared out on offense allowing Brittany Miller to take on D-G-F’s full-court pressure. The Rebels forced 24 turnovers but were unable to contain Perham’s consistent offensive attack.

“I’m not focused on the number,” Super said. “We really put the pressure on our guards by isolating them against D-G-F’s press and they did a phenomenal job. Brittany Miller played an awesome game, just very aggressive, really took charge on the court.”

Miller led Perham scoring 16 points, including a hot night from behind the arc sinking three of four attempts from long range.

Von Ruden continued her strong play down low scoring a dozen points and pulling in a game-high 13 rebounds.

Analea Erickson scored 15 points and Perham put four players in double figures getting 10 points from Maria Rutten.

“Our seniors Tina Scheidecker and Analea Erickson played a really good floor game while our posts played tough inside. Everyone that saw action played strong, it was a great way to play our last game on the home court and hopefully this can jumpstart us towards playoffs.”

D-G-F struggled from the field shooting 17-52 (33 percent) compared to Perham’s 20-37 (54 percent).

The Jackets led by seven at halftime 26-19 and outscored the Rebels by five in the latter half to pick up their third HOL victory of the year.

Perham is 10-14 overall and 3-8 in the conference. The Yellowjackets wrap up the regular season at No. 5A Pelican Rapids (18-2, 9-1). The Vikings have clinched the Heart O’ Lakes Conference title, snapping a four-year run by Hawley atop the HOL.
