Section 8AA girls basketball playoffs seeded; No. 5 Perham opens on the road

The seedings are completed for girls Section 8AA girls basketball with Perham getting the No. 5 seed in the south subsection.

All opening games in 8AA-South are scheduled for Thursday, Mar. 4 at 7 p.m.

The Yellowjackets (11-14) will open the playoffs on the road at Barnesville (17-11). The Trojans swept the Yellowjackets in the regular season winning 64-42 at home Dec. 12 and 50-37 in Perham Feb. 6.

Hawley (18-6) is the top seed and will host No. 8 Wadena-Deer Creek (4-19). Hawley won the only meeting this season 60-17 Dec. 12.

No. 7 Frazee (14-12) will play at No. 2 Breckenridge (12-10). Breckenridge swept the season series from the Hornets 78-55 Dec. 12 at Breckenridge and 73-61 Feb. 6 at Frazee.

No. 6 Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton will play at No. 3 Pelican Rapids. D-G-F was swept by Pelican Rapids 61-40 in Pelican Dec. 12 and 73-59 at home Feb. 6. Both of those games featured Mackenzie Korf, the Vikings leading scorer, who is out for the season due to an ACL injury.

Hawley and Breckenridge were separated by less than six points in the QRF and were placed via tiebreaker.

The same goes for Perham, D-G-F and Frazee all finishing within 3.2 points of each other.

In the North subsection, No. 1 Pequot Lakes has a bye awaiting the winner of No. 8 Bagley vs. No. 9 Badger/Greenbush-Middle River in a pigtail game Monday, Mar. 3.

No. 2 East Grand Forks will host No. 7 Warroad.

No. 3 Crosby-Ironton will play No. 6 Park Rapids Area.

No. 4 Roseau will host No. 5 Crookston.

The four quarterfinals will be played Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m.
