Huus wins first meet of season; Jackets third at HOL- Frazee

FRAZEE — Becca Huus won her first meet of the season leading Perham to a third place finish at the Heart O’ Lakes - Frazee meet Tuesday.

Huus shot a 44, one shot better than Pelican Rapids’ Alexa Bekkerus and Hawley’s Paige Mattfeld.

Bekkerus led Pelican Rapids to the meet team victory. Pelican Rapids shot 209 to Hawley’s 213. Perham’s third place score was 216.

West Centra Area’s Marissa Hayward was the only senior in the top six highlighting the amount of young talent in the conference.

Huus and Bekkerus are sophomores. Mattfeld is a junior. Frazee’s Alexis Parsons, who placed fifth is a junior. Her teammate Brittany Lormis, who shot the sixth best score Tuesday is a freshman.

Other Perham scores were: Liz Sonnenberg shot a 52; Danielle Graham shot 58; Allie King carded a 62; Kolbey Bormann a 66 and Hannah Solberg scored 66.

The top four individual scores were used for the team score.

The host Hornets finished in fourth place (217), a stroke back of the Yellowjackets.

Breckenridge, Barnesville, West Centra Area and D-G-F rounded out the final four teams.

Perham scores: Huus 44; Sonnenberg 52; Graham 58; King 62; Bormann 66; Solberg 68.
