Gymnastics Spring Show May 22

PERHAM — The Perham Gymnastics Academy will present their Annual Spring Show Thursday, May 22 at 6 p.m. in the Larry Hauer Gymnasium at Perham High School.

This show is open to family and friends.

The team will also present school demonstrations  Tuesday, May 27 for HOTL students from 1:15-2 p.m and  for PWMS students from 2:15-3 p.m.

The academy is currently composed of 57 athletes, ages ranging from four to 17.

During this year's Spring Show, progressions will be a noticeable component.

Athletes will be performing on each event showing the basics at the youngest levels up to competition-level skills.

In addition to performing skill sets on all four apparati, each group of athletes will be showing a choreographed dance with added corner tumbling.

Since the competitive season ended, gymnasts at the academy have not been missing a beat in the gym.

They have been practicing four days a week and some even come in for extra workouts Friday evenings.

"They are showing great drive and commitment and giving true meaning to hard work and dedication," said Ashley Lillis, academy director. "I am very proud of them for all of the progress they are making."

Training for the gymnasts continues into the summer.

The Academy's summer schedule will begin the first week of June and continue throughout the entire summer. Team classes will continue with added hours and three recreational classes will be added to the workout schedule.

"We are looking forward to an action packed summer," Lillis said.
