Yellowjacket girls basketball awards

Awards for this season’s Perham girls basketball squad have been announced.

The Yellowjackets and first-year coach T. J. Super battled through a 2-25 season.

Perham was knocked out of the playoffs by No. 9-2A Hawley (20-5).

The Yellowjackets lost five contests by four points or less, four of which were conference games.

While struggling, the team showed a continued improvement that culminated in a near upset of heavily favored Frazee 64-60 on Valentine’s Day.

That victory was a school record 18th for the Hornets.

Perham ended their regular season with a 63-44 victory over Sebeka.

Guard Emily Tobkin and center Miranda Lockhart, both seniors, were named Honorable Mention to the Heart O’ Lakes All-Conference team.

Senior Emily Tobkin was named to the all-conference team, the team's MVP and qualified for an all-state academic award.

Tobkin and senior forward Allison Smith both qualified for the Academic All-State team. Players must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 to qualify.

Tobkin, Smith and Lockhart are the only three departing seniors.

Perham will return an experienced core and with Super’s past coaching success to back him up at the helm, the Yellowjackets will definitely be improved in the coming season.

Senior Miranda Lockhart was named Honorable Mention to the HOL All-Conference team and Pehram's offensive MVP.
