Pastor Ryan Stout of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in New York Mills is preparing to hold a Halloween church service at the Greenwood Cemetery this Saturday night. Pastor Stout, wearing a cassock and holding an incense burner called a thurible, says Saturday night's service in the graveyard celebrates the Christian traditions of Halloween. A crowd estimated at more than 300 attended the final mass at Perham's St. Stanislaus church.  After the service, right, people gathered outside as a time capsule from 1922 was opened.

Rev. Peter Vorhes, who was a youngster when his father, Rev. Arthur Vorhes, was the first pastor at Calvary Lutheran, delivered the guest sermon at the 50th anniversary worship Sept. 27.

St. Henry's school librarian and art teacher Sister Sylvia left a legacy of love behind her when she went to join the Franciscan Sisters in Little Falls, Minnesota on August 27. She plans to return to the area to visit some of the St. Henry's students on September 25.
