At the 2013 relay, teams raised upwards of $70,000 for the American Cancer Society to promote research, education, advocacy and patient services. This year, their goal is to reach at least $90,000.

Caitlin and Brynnan Covington kicked things off at this year’s Turtle Fest Grand Parade, leading 70 floats, marching bands, trucks and other entries through Perham on Friday evening. The storm that passed over town that afternoon only kept about five entries away; everybody else held out and participated, despite a short delay in the parade's start time.

Paxton and his parents, Tasha Licence and Ryan Brummund. Paxton began having symptoms like a runny nose and watery eyes around his first birthday. After his symptoms worsened, a brain scan revealed a large tumor in the back of his brain and along the brainstem.
