At a Memorial Day service in New York Mills, the local V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary hung wreaths. Veteran Terry Frost was the guest speaker, the NY Mills High School band played a song, and poems were read.

The summer reading program has begun at the New York Mills Library. Last week, more than 100 children's books were donated from the Matti family in memory of Claretta Matti, who enjoyed working with kids both at the library and at Head Start. All of the books are now on display at the library and available for check-out.

Four New York Mills youth with St. John the Baptist in Bluffton presented a check to the Wadena Area Crisis Pregnancy Center last week after raising funds for nearly two months. The group attended a summer camp in June of last year called "Youth In Theology and Ministry," where they were encouraged to do a service justice project in their community or parish. They decided to help the pregnancy center by asking people to fill baby jars/bottles with loose change during Lent. They finalized...
