Perham Fire Department responded to a call of a garage and house on fire at 4 p.m., Sunday, May 6, at 480th Street north of Perham. No one was injured, but a family of five were left with no place to live.

Eric Hendrickx/FOCUS A solemn Perham Fire Department pays its respects to John Merkins, an active duty firefighter who died last week, by following his hearse on foot, in full gear, from Schoeneberger Funeral Home to Calvary Lutheran Church on Monday, before visitation. The tribute walk was a first in Perham. Merkins’ death is being investigated as a possible line of duty death.
