Exchange student Jussara Neeracher and Mya, Elijah and Gracie Morris, left to right, boil peanuts at the Morris home in Perham. “It’s a North Carolina thing,” explained family patriarch Jeff Morris, a North Carolina native, of the ‘nutty’ tradition. Nienke is from the Netherlands; Lidia is from Sweden. They’re the most recent in a long line of exchange students who have stayed with the Skillings over the past several years. Student excitement was high at Heart of the Lakes Elementary School last Wednesday afternoon as they celebrated the passing of the school referendum.
