Placement of campaign signs and other unauthorized objects in state highway rights of way is not allowed under state law, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. In addition, campaign signs may not be placed on private property outside of the right of way limits without landowner consent. Highway rights of way include the driving lanes, inside and outside shoulders, ditches and sight corners at intersections.
Due to high water levels, the Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners has established a no-wake zone on all lakes within the county, effective now. The no-wake restriction means all watercraft operating within 300 feet of the shoreline should not exceed a speed whereby a wake or wave is produced behind the craft.
Perham residents who are running their water to prevent frozen service lines could receive up to $55 back on their April and May bills. Due to continuous extreme cold weather this winter, the frost table is lower than previous years, which the city has warned may result in frozen water service lines in some places.
