A Detroit Lakes man made his initial court appearance after threatening to kill a Detroit Lakes police officer. Burt Gregory Alan Stover, 38, is charged with felony terroristic threats. According to the complaint, the officer responded to a report of a man acting strangely and swearing in an area around Main Avenue in Detroit Lakes. When the officer arrived, he witnessed Stover stumbling, slurring and smelling of alcohol.

A White Earth man was sentenced in Becker County Court after being found guilty of felony fourth degree assault on a peace officer. Wallace William Weaver, 44, was sentenced to 19 months in prison, which was stayed for five years. He will instead spend 180 days in jail and pay a $1,000 fine.
