The "person of interest" in a Moorhead double-homicide investigation has a long criminal history, including a stint in federal prison that ended last fall and three active arrest warrants. Moorhead police reiterated Tuesday their desire to find 38-year-old Tracy Allan Zornes and question him in connection with the apartment fire that left two people dead last Friday. Provisional autopsy reports indicate the manner of death for victims John Phillip Cadotte, 20, and Megan Joy Londo, 25, is homicide, police said. Sept. 24, 1930-June 22, 2009 William P. Arth, 78, of Detroit Lakes, died Monday, June 22, 2009 at MeritCare Palliative Care in Fargo. William P. Arth was born to William and Elizabeth Arth on Sept. 24, 1930 in Breckenridge, Minn. He grew up near Lidgerwood, N.D., where he attended country school, and in 1948, he graduated from Lidgerwood High School. He then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his discharge from the Army, Bill attended North Dakota State University. He later moved to Denver, Colo., where he would meet his future wife, Pat. On Feb.

In a messy case that looks like it's going to get uglier, opening statements were heard Wednesday in the Robert Briard sexual abuse case in Becker County District Court. Briard, 62, of rural Frazee is charged with felony first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly molesting a relative on two occasions. Nov. 11, 1931-Nov. 4, 2008 James F. Knapp, M.D., 76, of Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. James Frederic Knapp was born to Wesley H. and Vina (Fredericksen) Knapp on Nov. 11, 1931 in Tyler, MN. He was raised and educated in Tyler where he graduated from high school in 1951. He was a 1956 cum laude graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., and a 1960 graduate of the University Of Minnesota School Of Medicine in Minneapolis. James married Joann Gould in June 1957 in Roseville, Minn.
Nov. 30, 1949-Sept. 22, 2008 Steven J. Goodrich, 58, of Audubon, died Monday, September 22, 2008 at his home in Audubon. Steven was born the son of Kenneth and Patricia (Blount) Goodrich on Nov. 30, 1949 in Oakes, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Fullerton, North Dakota. After graduating high school, he entered the United States Air Force in 1969. While in the military, Steve was a crew chief on the United States Air Force General's plane, which traveled around the world. He retired as the Master Sergeant after twenty years of service.
June 19, 1927-Sept. 20, 2008 Howard E. Tyberg, 81, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, after a long struggle with cancer. Howard E. Tyberg was born to August and Effylen (Mickelson) Tyberg on June 19, 1927 in Elbow Lake, Minn. He graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1945. Howard enlisted in the U.S. Navy while in high school, and was stationed at Great Lakes, Ill., during World War II. He graduated from Mankato (Minn.) Jan. 31, 1920-Sept. 23, 2008 Evelyn E. Ponto, 88, of Frazee, died in her home on Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Evelyn Esther Zitzow was born to Richard and Mary (Loebrick) Zitzow on Jan. 31, 1920 in Luce, Minn. She was baptized and confirmed on June 17, 1934, at Vergas Lutheran Church. Evelyn was raised and educated in rural Vergas where she attended country school. On April 18, 1939, Evelyn married Norman Ponto in Perham. After they married, the couple moved to Frazee, where Norman worked for the elevator and Evelyn worked for Swift Turkey Plant.
June 22, 1919-Sept. 19, 2008 Former Detroit Lakes resident Robert N. Swanson, 89, of Austin, Minn., died Friday, September 19, 2008 at Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield, Minn. Robert Neil Swanson was born to John and Sannie (Trowbridge) Swanson on June 22, 1919 in Otter Tail County. He married Sara Saumweber on Dec. 31, 1944 in Fargo. Robert attended St. Paul Bible Institute and became an ordained pastor. He also worked in the U.S. Postal Service. Robert and Sara made their home in Detroit Lakes, where Robert was pastor of First Baptist Church from 1952 through 1965.
