May 7, 1935-Feb. 16, 2008 Eleanor M. Annette, 72, of Bemidji died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at North Country Re-gional Hospital in Bemidji. Eleanor Mae Reller was born the daughter of William Omen and Doris Reller on May 7, 1935 in White Earth. She was raised by her grandparents, George and Margaret Big Bear, in White Earth. She married William Arnold Annette in October 1953 at Detroit Lakes. For two years, they lived in Minneapolis, where she was a nursing assistant for St. Barnabus Hospital. For four years, they moved to Bagley, where she was a social worker.
Aug. 19, 1925-Feb. 10, 2008 Former Detroit Lakes resident Edna A. Foshaug, 82, of Fergus Falls died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Pioneer Retirement Community. Edna Alice Lofthus was born the daughter of Lewis and Mabel (Sveback) Lofthus on Aug. 19, 1925 in Fergus Falls. She was baptized and confirmed in the Trefoldighed Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake and attended various rural schools throughout Otter Tail County. Edna and Leonard Foshaug were married in 1947, and together they had two children, LaVey and Lowell.
Aug. 9, 1930-Feb. 10, 2008 Former Jamestown resident Jack Bernabucci, 77, of Palm Springs, Calif., passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Jack was born Aug. 9, 1930 in Jamestown, N.D. He attended the University of North Dakota, graduating in June 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in commerce. He then joined the family owned Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Jamestown. He became president of Coca-Cola Bottling in Jamestown in 1965 and of Coca-Cola Bottling of LaCrosse, Wis., in 1970.
March 16, 1919-Feb. 13, 2008 Melvin H. Klotz, 88, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes. Melvin H. Klotz was born to Albert and Ernestine (Kopischke) Klotz on March 16, 1919 in Morgan, Minn., where he grew up and received his education, graduating from Morgan High School. He worked at the Creamery in Morgan for a few years before entering the United States Army in 1943. He was stationed in California, where he attended the University of California-Davis, studying radio Ccmmunications.
Aug. 17, 1932-Feb. 11, 2008 Former Frazee area resident William "Bill" Derke, 75, of West Fargo, died on Monday, February 11, 2008 at his home. William Otto Derke was born the son of Albert and Ruth (Ogroske) Derke on Aug. 17, 1932 in Corliss Township, where he was raised and attended country school. Following school, he worked for Lemkuhl International Harvester in Perham. He entered the United States Army in 1954 and served during the Korean War, until receiving his honorable discharge in February 1956. Bill married Alice Palmer on Aug. 25, 1956 in St.
Feb. 8, 1939-Feb. 13, 2008 Helen I. Dow, 69, of Frazee, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the Frazee Care Center. Helen Ione Klovstad was born to Henry and Ida (Bakken) Klovstad on Feb. 8, 1939 in Pelican Rapids. She attended country school in rural Pelican Rapids. Helen married Clifford Dow and together they lived around the area. Throughout the years, she worked for Audubon High School and Rural Minnesota CEP, while living in Frazee.
Oct. 21, 1941-Feb. 4, 2008 Marian P. Johnson, 66, of Park Rapids, died Monday, February 4, 2008. Marian Priscilla Kucera was born to Edward and Anita (Budreau) Kucera on Oct. 21, 1941, in International Falls, Minn., where she resided until the age of eight. She then moved with her family to Portland, Ore., and resided there until the age of 14, when the family moved to Minneapolis. Marian also lived in Los Angeles, Calif., Las Vegas, Nev., and Minneapolis during her married years. She was blessed with two children during this time, Russell Wayne Smith Jr.
Jan. 7, 1929-Feb. 9, 2008 Marlys E. Carter, 79, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at St. Mary's Care Center, Detroit Lakes. Marlys Elaine (Olson) Carter was born January 7, 1929 in Litchville, N.D., to Johnnie and Irene (King) Olson. Marlys spent her childhood and the majority of her life as a resident of Jamestown, N.D. As a young adult, she worked at Danette Café while in high school. She was active in sorority and events at Jamestown High School. Marlys was in the class of 1947, which established the youth canteen at the Armory.
Sept. 26, 1949-Feb. 8, 2008 Ruth A. Howard, 58, of Mahnomen, died Friday, February 8, 2008 at the Mayo Medical Center in Rochester, Minn. Ruth Ann Williams was born the daughter of James and Florence (Riffel) Williams on Sept. 26, 1949 in St. Louis, Mo. She grew up in the St Louis area and graduated from Webster Grove High School in 1967. Ruth married Dale Howard and through this union she had two daughters, Michelle and Angela. Ruth was later blessed with three more daughters, Julie, Elizabeth, and Rachael. While raising her girls, Ruth worked various jobs in St. Louis.
June 23, 1920-Feb. 8, 2008 Arndt O. Baker, 87, of Vergas, died on Friday, February 8, 2008 in the Perham Memorial Home. Arndt Owen Baker was born the son of Harry and Emma (Hoffmann) Baker on June 23, 1920 in Candor Township, where he was raised and attended District 98 School. He worked on the family farm and when his parents moved to Barnesville, Arndt took over the farm and continued farming. Arndt married Alvina Dahring on Aug. 1, 1943 in Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. They lived on the farm until 1953, when they moved to Vergas.
