A 41-year-old man was found Monday, Nov. 7, deceased in the woods after suffering an apparent gunshot wound in central Minnesota. Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen reported deputies were called at 5:04 p.m. to a possible hunting accident on property near the intersection of Hawthorne Road and Jewel Road in Belle Prairie Township east of Little Falls. According to the sheriff's office, Terrence Brisk was found deceased by a family member. Brisk was believed to be hunting as he was wearing blaze orange.
ALEXANDRIA, Minn.—A woman who had been arrested at a fire in downtown Alexandria managed to get behind the wheel of a squad car and drove off at speeds topping 100 mph before she was caught near Sauk Centre on Sunday, Nov. 6. Alexandria police say Jennifer Hillard, 35, of Alexandria, faces charges of arson, theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing a peace officer, driving while impaired, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving and speeding related to the fire and the chase.
An influx of outdoor mice has area homeowners on the verge of mouse madness. Mouse traps and mouse bait have been selling at record levels, exterminators are staying busy and people who have never had house cats before are bringing in "mousers" to join the fight. On its Facebook page, the Detroit Lakes Tribune asked if people were having worse-than-usual mice problems this year.
Authorities are wondering what was spilled yesterday at a recycling center in Fergus Falls. Workers say a chemical leaked out of a recycling container, and what happened next forced them to evacuate. Officials told Forum News Service that when the material spilled on the ground, it began bubbling and smoking. They say the material was yellowish, gelatinous, and smelled like acid as it reacted on the ground. Folks in Fergus Falls were left with questions.
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. -- A three-vehicle crash killed two people and closed down Interstate 94 between Osakis and Alexandria early Tuesday morning. The crash involved a Freightliner semitrailer, a GMC Sierra pickup truck, and a Volvo semitrailer. Both people in the GMC Sierra were killed as a result of the crash. The driver was Calvin Hess, 40, of Kenmare, N.D., and his passenger was Myron Bishop, 39, of Thompson Falls, Mont., according to the State Patrol.

JOSEPH, Minn.—The College of St. Benedict in Jacob Wetterling's hometown of St. Joseph will host a memorial service Sunday for the boy who was abducted 27 years ago and whose body was recovered Sept. 2. The Wetterling Family Memorial Service for Jacob will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday. Oct. 22 was proclaimed "Jacob Wetterling Day" in Minnesota by Gov. Mark Dayton on Friday. That day will mark the 27th anniversary of Jacob's abduction.

GRAND FORKS, N.D.—Tickets to see the previously announced Eric Church concert early next year in Grand Forks will go on sale Sept. 30, the Ralph Engelstad Arena announced Wednesday. Grand Forks is one of more than 60 cities that are part of the "Holdin' My Own" tour, which will make a stop at The Ralph on Jan. 15. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 30. ADA, Minn. -- A Detroit Lakes man was killed in a crash near Ada late Monday night, Sept. 19. At approximately 11:30 p.m., a semi was travelling east on county Highway 39, turning onto Highway 24. As the semi was turning left, a 2015 Ford pickup, which was travelling southbound on Highway 24, failed to stop at the intersection and collided with the trailer of the semi, the Norman County Sheriff's Office said.
