DEER RIVER, Minn. -- Two people died in a fire early Saturday at a home in northeastern Cass County, authorities reported Sunday. Three other people escaped with minor injuries from the rural Deer River residence, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported.

FARGO – Mayor Dennis Walaker died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday night, Deputy Mayor Tim Mahoney said. Walaker died at about 7 p.m., Mahoney said, and the cause could be “a variety of things.” Walaker had been battling kidney cancer for months. A death investigation has been launched in Otter Tail County. The body of 27-year-old Jamie Fox, of Pelican Rapids, was found Monday afternoon near Pelican Rapids. Otter Tail County Sheriff's Lt. Barry Fitzgibbons said the Fox’s body was discovered near some outbuildings at the intersection of County Highway 4 and U.S. Highway 59 at around 3:40 p.m.
ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- A 19-year-old woman from Monticello is dead and three others injured, following a crash on Minnesota 23 outside of St. Cloud on Saturday morning. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the head-on collision occurred just before 9 a.m. near where Minnesota 23 and Interstate 94 meet, near Collegeville in Stearns County.
