A Detroit Lakes woman whose body was found outside a Menahga home last month died of strangulation, according to her death certificate. Family members found 32-year-old Kelly Marie Lund dead in a tent on her brother’s lawn the morning of July 12. She had returned to her hometown for the annual Midsummer Festival and was camping out with her boyfriend, Robert Mieseler.
FARGO - Construction on 25th Street could see some delays after a car drove through freshly-poured concrete near Interstate 94 Tuesday morning. A driver in the western lane of 25th Street South was traveling southbound and entered the wet concrete just north of the 25th Street overpass. There is no word yet on damage estimates or what effect the incident could have on construction projects in the area. Check back for further updates.
DULUTH - Police say a 34-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot by an officer early Monday morning when he brandished a knife and barricaded himself in a room in a Duluth home.
DETROIT LAKES – A Minot man stabbed three men from Canada early Thursday at a campground near the WE Fest concert venue, leaving them with wounds that were not life-threatening, the Becker County Sheriff’s Department said. Sheriff Kelly Shannon said the alleged stabber, Aaron Williams, 32, was apparently intoxicated when he shocked a few people with a handheld Taser at the Hilltop Campground across the road from WE Fest.
DEERWOOD, Minn. - Two men were pulled from a central Minnesota lake Friday by a citizen who witnessed an ultralight aircraft crashing into the lake, Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reported. The pilot, Richard Northburg of Deerwood, and passenger, Justin Odle of Aitkin, were not injured. Northburg reported to deputies that they were flying over Agate Lake near Deerwood when the engine on the aircraft stalled, causing them to land in the lake.
BRAINERD, Minn. - A Denver man who allegedly ran over a 21-year-old Greenwood woman Saturday evening when she fell off the boat he was driving on Whitefish Lake faces criminal charges. Thomas Hurlbut Ryan, 24, was charged Tuesday in Crow Wing District Court with two felony counts of criminal vehicular operation causing great bodily harm while under the influence and two misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated.
PEQUOT LAKES, Minn. - A 21-year-old woman suffered severe lacerations to her leg after a boat ran over her Saturday on Whitefish Lake, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office reported.
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at Wildridge Campgrounds on Lobster Lake on Sunday, August 3, after 15-year-old Brennon David Johnson from Montevideo did not return from kayaking on the lake. According to his mother, Jazell Holverson, Johnson went kayaking around 12:30 p.m.
A Menahga teen is still in the hospital with serious injuries after a head-on crash near Wolf Lake Wednesday afternoon. The 16-year old boy, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, was airlifted to Fargo. The accident happened at 4:52 p.m.
