A Moorhead woman was injured when her car left the roadway on Highway 59 near Detroit Lakes on Friday. Terese Nadine Jacobs, 47, of Moorhead was transported to Essentia St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.
A 66-year-old Menahga man has died and another was flown from the scene with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash Friday morning, July 21. The crash happened approximately 1 mile north of Menahga on U.S. Highway 71. The Minnesota State Patrol said Randall Lee Hinz died in the crash. The other driver, Timothy McKenna, 31, of New York Mills, had life-threatening injuries and was flown to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minn.
A Barnesville woman was injured in a head-on collision on Highway 34 in Clay County Wednesday afternoon. Marlene Hosmer Avery, 56, was transported to Sanford Hospital in Fargo with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol. The driver of the other car, Brooke Elizabeth Jenison, 17, also of Barnesville, was not injured, according to the State Patrol.
A 54-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a deer in Becker County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash happened shortly before 1 p.m. Friday, July 14, on U.S. Highway 10 near Long Lake Road in Detroit Lakes.
A Callaway woman was injured in a two-car crash Wednesday afternoon on Highway 59 in Callaway Township. Lavonne Ione Molacek, 61, was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary's for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol. The driver of the other vehicle, Benjamin Andrew Reed, 40, of Fergus Falls, was not injured.
FARGO -- A child is hospitalized at Sanford Children’s Hospital here after being run over by a trailer in a parade in central Minnesota’s Wadena County. The accident happened about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, on Highway 87 near Juniper Avenue in Menahga, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The patrol said a pickup, driven by 24-year-old Ben Skoog of Menahga, was towing a boom trailer as part of the parade on the highway, also known as Main Street, and had stopped while children were picking up candy near the vehicle.
A rural Frazee man has been sentenced to more than two years in prison after bringing three knives to the Becker County Human Services Department, causing a disturbance, and being caught with Fentanyl patches. Donald Arthur Merrill, 45, of rural Frazee has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime. Multiple charges were dismissed in a plea agreement, including felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, two felony counts of domestic assault, and three felony counts of violating a no-contact restraining order.
Five young people were injured, two seriously, when a side-by-side ATV rolled over near Bass Lake in Shell Lake Township Monday morning. A 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, according to the Becker County Sheriff's Office. Three other boys, ages 8, 11 and 13, who were passengers in the ATV suffered minor injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office. No names were released. None of the young people were wearing seatbelts or helmets.
An ATV crash early Tuesday morning in Becker County has left one man dead and another injured, according to the Becker County Sheriff's Office. Anthony Robert Ortiz Sr., 47, of Soap Lake, Wash., died at the scene after the side-by-side ATV he was driving rolled over on South Elbow Lake Road in Round Lake Township.
HALSTAD, Minn. — A 22-year-old man is dead after a shooting Monday night, June 26, in Halstad, according to the Norman County Sheriff's Office. A 20-year-old woman was arrested for reckless discharge of a gun. The man was shot about 6 p.m. and airlifted to a Fargo hospital. Members of the sheriff's office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating. Halstad, a town of about 600 people near the Red River, is 35 miles northeast of Fargo.
