The Red River Valley Regional Bomb Squad is disposing of about 25 sticks of dynamite Friday, Dec. 30, found at a rural residence along the Otter Tail and Grant county line, an Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office spokesman said. The dynamite was discovered about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, in a shed near the home in the 28000 Block of 100th Street, Lt. Keith Van Dyke said.
ST. PAUL—Chronic Wasting Disease has been identified in a farmed deer herd north of Brainerd in Merrifield, the Minnesota Board of Animal Health reported Friday, Dec. 30. The herd of 33 mule deer and 100 white-tailed deer is registered with the Board of Animal Health. Two 2-year-old female deer were slaughtered on the farm and both tested positive for CWD. The deer showed no clinical signs of illness.
PERHAM, Minn.—A rural Perham man was injured Sunday, Dec. 25, when a fish house fire spread to nearby residences. According to a report released by the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office: Perham area fire crews and members of the sheriff's office were called about 6:30 a.m. Sunday to the rural Perham residence of Paul Krause, 62, where a fire in a fish house on dry land spread to nearby structures.
FRAZEE, Minn.—One person died and another was critically injured when a vehicle struck two pedestrians early Sunday, Dec. 25, on Highway 29 about five miles north of Frazee, according to a report released by Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander. According to the report: A vehicle driven by Alexis Birky, 20, of Frazee, was driving southbound on the highway about 6 a.m. Sunday, when her vehicle collided with two people who were walking in the southbound lane of the highway.

ST. PAUL—State officials say they know who made a vague threat to northern Minnesota schools, causing dozens to be locked down on Wednesday, Nov. 16. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension announced Thursday that agents identified a juvenile who on Wednesday posted a message in an online chat room threatening violence at an unnamed northern Minnesota school. The BCA says there is no threat to schools. No problems were reported Wednesday as many law enforcement agencies sent officers to guard schools with outside doors locked as a precaution.
A 41-year-old man was found Monday, Nov. 7, deceased in the woods after suffering an apparent gunshot wound in central Minnesota. Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen reported deputies were called at 5:04 p.m. to a possible hunting accident on property near the intersection of Hawthorne Road and Jewel Road in Belle Prairie Township east of Little Falls. According to the sheriff's office, Terrence Brisk was found deceased by a family member. Brisk was believed to be hunting as he was wearing blaze orange.
ALEXANDRIA, Minn.—A woman who had been arrested at a fire in downtown Alexandria managed to get behind the wheel of a squad car and drove off at speeds topping 100 mph before she was caught near Sauk Centre on Sunday, Nov. 6. Alexandria police say Jennifer Hillard, 35, of Alexandria, faces charges of arson, theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing a peace officer, driving while impaired, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving and speeding related to the fire and the chase.
