Mingo wants to put her love of horses to good use and mentor children through working with horses and animals, teaching them life skills in a ranch setting.
The American Cancer Society is pleased to announce Robianne Schultz of Perham, Minn., as a recipient of its prestigious St. George National Award. The award was presented to Schultz in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 13. She is one of 23 individuals from across the country who received the award for extraordinary service to the community in support of the Society's mission to save lives.
The Dreams for Kids Rally route for motorcyclists starts at the Silver Moon in Perham at noon and heads down Main Street. Then it will turn south on Highway 78 to Highway 14 and over to Highway 67 to Henning. The first stop will be in Vining for lunch before continuing on to the Hide Out in Dalton, The Dug Out in Dent and back to the Silver Moon for supper at 5 p.m. and bean bag toss games.
At approximately 6 p.m. on August 26, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office responded to a missing persons report on West Battle Lake. It was reported that Peter Akinboro, 39, had taken a jet-ski out on West Battle Lake and, when a family member later discovered the jet-ski drifting, Akinboro was not with the jet-ski.
St. Paul, MN: The Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Level 3 predatory offender who is no longer complying with the conditions of his release from prison. Jonah James Hawkins was released from prison on April 22, 2015 to Intensive Supervised Release by the DOC. He has been on fugitive status since June 27, 2017 when he absconded from his supervision. He was last seen leaving his residence in Halstad. He may have traveled to North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Florida, or Arizona.
Cody Joe Johnson, 32, of rural Detroit Lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony second-degree controlled substance crime. According to court records, on May 15, a Becker County deputy learned of a large marijuana-growing operation in Becker County, allegedly in the basement of Johnson's residence. Deputies executed a search warrant and seized 156 marijuana plants. Johnson, who was home at the time, allegedly admitted setting up the marijuana-growing operation in his home.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office is asking for help in the apprehension of a 25-year-old man last seen on Beaver Dam Road. On May 31, deputies of the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office received anonymous information that Jacob Daniel Siltala was walking southbound on Beaver Dam Road from State Highway 108. Siltala currently has an active arrest warrant out of Otter Tail County for a stay of execution of sentence related to a 2nd Degree Assault with a Deadly Weapon conviction.
Miranda June Sweet, 34, of 356 Second St. N.E., Perham, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony domestic assault. A gross misdemeanor charge of obstructing the legal process was dismissed in a plea agreement. According to court records, in Detroit Lakes on Sept. 29, 2015, Sweet got into an altercation with her mother, who suffered broken glasses and a skinned knee. Sweet was arrested and was disruptive during the booking process at the Becker County Jail. She was previously convicted of domestic assault in 2007 and 2008.
