Rhonda Jokela Annette, 58, of Park Rapids, died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at St. Joseph's Area Health Services in Park Rapids. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 16 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home. Olga Emily (Aalund) Gulbranson, 96, of Menahga, formerly of Montevideo and Park Rapids, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. She is survived by her daughter Sandra (George) Thelen, of Park Rapids; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: 10-11 a.m. today (Saturday), March 14 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Duane David Flagstad, 71, of Alexandria, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009. He was born Feb. 26, 1937 and raised on the family farm in Colfax Township north of Wyndmere, N.D. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, graduating in 1959 with degrees in business education and psychology; he later received a Masters of Arts degree in public school administration from North Dakota State University. He taught high school business education in Evansville and Detroit Lakes and was the high school principal in Welcome and Belgrade.
Nancy Ann Gilster, 59, of Nimrod, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at home under the care of Hospice. She was born Feb. 7, 1950 in Wadena to Dorn and Elaine McCormick. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Sebeka. She grew up on her parent's farm and attended Sebeka Public School with the class of 1968. She married Larry Dean Gilster on Sept. 30, 1967. The couple moved to Nimrod where they raised their family. She worked for the DNR for 27½ years as a fire watcher.
John Daniel Mueller, 66, of rural Nevis, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 at Mayo Methodist Hospital in Rochester. He was born on Sept. 10, 1942 at Credit River Township to Christopher and Agnes Virginia (Murphy) Mueller. He graduated from Prior Lake High School and lived in Prior Lake until November 2004. He was employed by Cargill Corp., Cardinal Drywall, and retired from Kraus-Anderson Construction Co. as a project supervisor in November 2004. He married Norrine Lee Dingman on Nov. 25, 1967 in St. Paul. They lived near Nevis since his retirement in 2004. He was a member of the St.
Beulah May Gain, 93, of Park Rapids, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Heritage Living Center. She was born to Dennis and Emma (George) Parks, on March 8, 1915 in Osage Township, Becker County. She attended the Green Pine Country School north of Osage and later attended Park Rapids High School. She married Vernon D. Pierson in 1933.
John D. Mueller, 66, of rural Nevis, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 at Mayo Methodist Hospital in Rochester. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Thursday, March 5 at Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Nevis with Pastor A.J. Kluver as officiant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Jerry Kruse, 77, of Bristol, Ind., formerly of Park Rapids, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2009. He was born in 1931 in Park Rapids. He was a long-time resident and worked in TV repair. He was a U.S. Marine Corps. veteran. He is survived by two brothers: Al and Bob; and a sister, Teresa. He was preceded in death by his son, Keneth.
Leo Thomas Gregerson, 86, of Park Rapids and Tucson, Ariz., died Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 at home in Tucson. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Friday, March 13 at Rincon Country West RV Resort Auditorium in Tucson, Ariz. Memorial Mass: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids, with Father Tom Friedl officiating. Music will be led by the St. Peter Apostle Alleluia Choir.
Dennis Nelson, 39, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 in Nevis. He was born to William and Alice Nelson and grew up in Tucson, Ariz. He was baptized at age 13 by his own request and was mentored in the Catholic faith by a family friend. He is survived by his mother, of Louisiana; and two brothers: Christopher, of Stillwater, and Michael, of Alabama. His cremains have been transported to Alabama for burial under the patronage and care of his brother, Michael. He will be remembered in prayers for the faithful-departed at Mass Sunday, March 15 at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church.
