As the controversy rages over whether or not the U.S. mail should or should not deliver mail on Saturday in order to cut operating costs, I have yet another opinion. This opinion is based on two letters which I have received in the near past. Based on those letters, how about if we cancel mail delivery altogether?
The New Creation Lutheran Church of Perham will host its second annual Community Carnival on Friday, April 19 from 3:30-7 p.m. at the Perham Area Community Center. The carnival is a fundraiser that will feature fun activities for kids as well as cash prizes and silent auction items that the whole family can enjoy. “We have some great silent auction items,” said Amy Walz, an event organizer.
Identify this couple by name. Other than a vague hint written on the back of this photo, there is no clue as to their names. Since we don’t have a correct answer to this History Mystery question, we will pass all answers on to the history museum.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, along with the Glendalough Park Partners, will host the 17th annual “Walk for Glendalough” at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the trail center at Glendalough State Park in Battle Lake. There is no fee to enter the park on this day, but because the walk is intended as a fundraiser, donations will be encouraged.
The Barley Jacks will play a concert of old time and bluegrass music at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center this Friday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. Virtuosity, magic and a little danger combine to make every Barley Jacks performance unique. The first thing audiences notice is how much fun the group members have when they perform. These Minnesota-based music veterans enjoy performing together, and that’s obvious to anyone watching.

The Minnesota State High School Visual Arts Exhibit for Region 6A North has been on exhibit at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center April 13-17. It was a short window of opportunity for people to see an exciting exhibit featuring the creative work of students in grades 9-12 from 14 high schools in the region. Thursday (April 18), will be the Visual Arts Festival, when more than 140 students will converge in New York Mills for an awards ceremony and art workshops conducted by five professional artists.
