Russell W. Richter, 53, Vergas, MN, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at his parent's home, under the care of hospice, after a courageous battle with cancer. Russell W. Richter was born on February 20, 1956, in Perham, MN, to Ralph and Wilma Richter. He attended District 98 Country School, finishing grade school through high school in Perham and graduated in 1974. After high school he attended Floriculture School in Eden Prairie, MN. Russell was employed by Bergen's Greenhouse in Detroit Lakes, MN for many years.
Bruce Pagel, age 74 of Vining, MN died Sunday June 7, 2009 at his home on East Battle Lake. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday June 12, 2009 at the Vining Lutheran Church in Vining with Pastor Dick Kennedy officiating. Music will be provided by Mary King, organist, with vocal music by the Vining Lutheran Church Choir. Interment will be in the Vining Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 at the Belmont Funeral Home in Henning. Bruce Robinson Pagel was born on March 6, 1935 in Hutchinson, MN, the son of August and Beatrice (Robinson) Pagel.
Don Hoyhtya, 63, of St. Paul, MN, formerly of Henning, MN, passed away Saturday May 30, 2009, after a short battle with cancer. He was born to Ernest and Hulda Hoyhtya on May 4, 1946. He was born and raised in Leaf Lakes Township and attended school at District 135. Following graduation from Henning High School in 1964, he enlisted into the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Forrestal (CV-59) until 1968. After an honorable discharge, he worked in Minneapolis, MN as an airport cab driver for 32 years. Don enjoyed golfing, but mostly spending time with his family.

Charles "Charley" Olaf Pary, 73 of New York Mills, MN, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Monday, June 8 2009. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Karvonen & Son Funeral Home in New York Mills. Services will be held on Thursday, June 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Wadena, MN, with Pastor Shirley Nelson officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation and accompanied by Irma Allen.
Wilma Ann (Marshall) Cowan was born on June 16, 1934 in Cohocton, NY, to William Casper and Sylvia (Pulver) Marshall. Wilma graduated from Dundee Central School in Dundee, NY, with the class of 1952. She received a bachelor degree at St. Francis College in Joliet, IL. Wilma was employed as a Registered Nurse in New York and Arizona. On April 29, 1955 Wilma was united in marriage with Harry Joseph Cowan, Sr. in Derry, PA. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Harry passed away in July of 1981. Wilma enjoyed her occupation as a traveling nurse.
Claris M. Tharaldson, 82, of Perham, MN, passed peacefully Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in the Perham Memorial Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Friday, June 5 at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Dent, MN. Claris Marie Sanderson was born November 9, 1926. She was married to Ted Tharaldson on November 15, 1947. Claris loved life and playing practical jokes.
Bruce Allen Rice, 55, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2009, beginning at 11:00 am in Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, with Pastor Carl Noble officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dent, MN. Visitation will be 2 hours before the service. Bruce was born November 3, 1953, to Hugh and Lois (Wahlstrom) Rice in Pelican Rapids, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids.
Larry J. Brewer, age 67, of Perham, MN, died Friday, May 29, 2009. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 1, 2009, beginning at 2:00 pm at the Perham Community Alliance Church, Perham, with Pastor Gus Ziegler officiating. Burial will take place in the Memory Gardens of Fairhope Cemetery in Fairhope, AL. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service at the church. Larry was born September 18, 1941, in Sumiton, AL, the son of Wordlaw and Gladys (Banks) Brewer. He was enlisted in the US Army as an MP. On March 8, 1997, Larry was united in marriage to Rita Hunczak in Fairhope, AL.
Memorial services for Roger Robb, age 85, of Industry, Illinois, will be held at a later date. He passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was enroute to a grandson's wedding in Texas. Roger William Robb was born in Compton Township in 1924 to William and Ella (Kautz) Robb. He graduated from Wadena High School in 1941 and attended Bemidji State University before entering the United States Navy in 1943. He was commissioned as a Naval Aviator in 1944 and served on the USS Raleigh.
