Elizabeth M. "Liz" Laughlin, 82, of Perham, MN, died Saturday, September 5, 2009, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 8, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Liz was born March 28, 1927, in Perham, the daughter of George and Clara (Ledermann) Guck. She attended St. Joe School and graduated from Perham High School. Liz was united in marriage to Richard Laughlin on September 18, 1951, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Perham.
The memorial service for Walter Clarence Damlo, 91, Detroit Lakes, MN and formerly from Frazee, MN, will be Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 11 a.m., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, with Reverend William Aufdenkamp officiating. Burial will be at Gorman Township Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 10 - 11 a.m.
Denise Ann Palazeke, 48, passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2009, at her home in Wadena, MN. She was born on June 20, 1961 in Schenectady, NY to Douglas and Nancy (VanEppes) Palazeke. Denise was united in marriage to Kenneth Floyd Lessley, II on July 6, 1989, in Las Vegas, NV. She resided in Wadena for the past seven years and was employed by Rising Phoenix. In her free time, she found joy in writing, drawing, and watching movies.
Paul David Cullifer, Jr., 41, of Wadena, MN, passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2009 near Royalton, MN. He was born on September 16, 1967, to Paul and Sandy Cullifer in Wadena. Paul lived his entire life in Wadena and was employed as a truck driver. His interests revolved around trucks and he especially enjoyed spending time with his children.
Leon "Bud" Westhoff Sr., 81, of Perham, MN, died on August 27, 2009, in the Minnesota Veteran's Home, Fergus Falls, MN. A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, September 1, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, rural Perham, with Father Dan Walz officiating. Bud was born on October 20, 1927, to Henry J. and Gertrude A. (Fellerer) Westhoff. He was baptized at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and attended District 13 country school until the eighth grade. After school, Bud worked on the family farm until he joined the Army Air Force when he was 18.
Memorial services were held for Jennifer "Jen" Mindermann, 37, of New York Mills, MN on Saturday, August 29, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Detroit Lakes, MN, with Pastor Mark Kuether officiating. Special music was provided by soloist, Geri Dresser, and organist, Renee Holm. Jennifer Leigh Anderson was born on June 18, 1972, in Minneapolis, MN, along with her twin sister, Jean. Her parents are Terry and Lynn (Ruona) Anderson of Detroit Lakes.
Services will be held for Jennifer "Jen" (Anderson) Mindermann, age 37, of New York Mills on Saturday, August 29, at 11 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be on Friday, August 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills.
Elsworth Vertice Jasmer, who resided at Lakewood Pines in Staples, MN, passed away at his home on August 21, 2009. Viewing will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hewitt on August 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha on August 26, at 11 a.m. with viewing an hour prior. Burial will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hewitt. Elsworth was born on December 22, 1923 in Bartlett Township, rural Aldrich, MN, to Adolph and Emma (Ellis) Jasmer.
Funeral Mass was held for Roger Parsons on Tuesday, August 25, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Otto Township, rural Perham, MN with Ft. Dan Walz officiating. Roger Allen Parsons was born on January 18, 1939 in Reedsburg, WI. He grew up in Chicago, IL and was cared for by Donald and LaNore (Vanderlinde) Taylor. Roger attended Chicago Vocational School and served in the United States Navy from January 31, 1956 to September 19, 1957. Returning to Chicago, Roger was employed with Chromium Mining and Smelting. On July 23, 1960, Roger was united in marriage with Mary Ann Obarski at St.
Jennifer Charlotte Bernu of Minneapolis and Blaine, MN, slipped away quietly, unexpectedly on May 24, 2009, at age 28. Jenny suffered quadriplegia, paralyzed from the neck down, due to an auto accident in 1998. Jenny used her SISU to endure her new life style in a wheel chair, ventilator-dependent. SISU she inherited from her family: learned to use an adapted computer; go shopping at the Mall of America; go to movies; out to eat and have fun. She was bright and beautiful, with a smile that would light up the whole room.
