Funeral services were held for Beverly Ann Gritz, 56, of Maplewood, MN on Friday, August 21, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, MN with Pastor Martin Schoenfeld officiating. The music was provided by the congregation, accompanied by Nancy Butterfass. Pallbearers were Anthony "AJ" Houge, Phillip Gritz, Jeffrey Gritz, James Gritz, Dean Kostial and John Gritz. A memorial service for Irene Alvina (Mattfeld) Bonderenko will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham at 2:00 p.m. Irene passed away in Herald, California on August 14, 2009. She was born on August 30, 1931 to August and Theresa (Schultz) Mattfeld in Gorman Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota. After her marriage to Al Bonderenko, they resided in California where they raised their family. She was employed at the Postal Services for a time and then worked at Peter's Trucking until her reitirement.
Thomas R. Dew, age 64 of Henning, MN lost his year and a half battle with cancer on Wednesday August 19, 2009. He died in his home with his family at his side. Following cremation, his ashes will be interred at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in the twin cities. Thomas Richard Dew was born on August 24, 1944 at Ft. Snelling, the son of Perry and Doloris (Nyvall) Dew. He joined the US Navy as a young man and made the Navy his career, serving from 1963 until 1983. He drove truck for Daggett Truck Line for 10 years following his discharge.
Norman, Carl W (Will) Age 91 of Vergas, formerly of Minneapolis & Perham died on August 18, 2009. Preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; Survived by children Merrie Jean (Carter) Harrison, Bill (Emilie) Norman, Holly (Joe) Georges; grandchildren and great grandchildren. Will was a WWII veteran and spent his entire career in the heating & air conditioning business. Funeral service 11:00 AM Thursday (visitation at 10) at HOLCOMB-HENRY-BOOM, 515 Hwy 96 at Mackubin, Shoreview (651-482-7606). Visitation 5-8 PM Wednesday. Interment Hillside Cemetery. Theodore Waskosky, age 93, Elbow Lake, MN died on Monday August 17, 2009 at the Pioneer Care Center in Fergus alls, MN. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM with visitation scheduled for 10:00 AM on Tuesday August 25, 2009 at Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Clitherall, MN with Pastor Harry Olson officiating. Music is provided by Violinist: Mary Waskosky; Organist: Diane Bjerketvedt; and vocalists: Chris Christopherson and Marge Naylor. Marie M. Palmer, 99, of Perham, MN died on Sunday, August 16, 2009, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Dan Walz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 19, from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham.
Melvin Arthur Fuller a resident of Lakewood Health Care Center in Staples, and formerly of Verndale, passed away at age 84, on August 15, 2009 at the Care Center. He was born at home in rural Minnesota on May 3, 1925 to Wesley and Bessie (Reynolds) Fuller. Melvin served in the United States Navy from January 15, 1945 to August 20, 1946. He was united in marriage with Marian Chilberg on September 20, 1946 at Balsamlund Lutheran Church in rural Aldrich.
